Creative Types is a communications consulting and events firm.
How are we different from the other guys? The difference is in our hearts: We love language. Our work is grounded in a nuanced understanding of linguistic analysis. (No joke: We study miscommunications for fun.) In addition, we have years of training in management consulting. We “get” the pressures you face at work. We know how to manage projects on time and on budget—to keep clients happy.

PowerPoint or hot glue gun? One’s career journey often takes many twists and turns, and as I turn around this next bend, I’m refusing to choose one over the other. Both! Alright then! At Creative Types, our client portfolio is a mix of corporate, small business, and social clients. And the variety is so energizing!
My resume will tell you that I am a communications professional, and that clients trust me to lead internal and executive communications, change management efforts, and events. I have a background in corporate people programs and a big consulting firm pedigree (Booz Allen Hamilton). You’ll also learn that I was super studious as a youngster. I hold a B.A. in International Studies International Studies from American University (Summa Cum Laude with a cherry on top!) and an M.A. in Sociolinguistics: Language & Communication from Georgetown University. Yes, linguistics. That’s where the obsession with language comes in, which makes sense for a commsgirl, right? I am fascinated by clear communications, effective storytelling, metaphors, and am a great huntress of typos. I study misunderstandings for fun. No joke. And I feel MOST ALIVE when speaking another language. Spanish and Italian are my favorites to butcher, I mean, practice. That’s pretty much all you’ll read because I keep the resume to one page.
The photos on my phone, my friends and family, and the craft closet (if it could speak) will share another version of the story. For decades, I have been designing and hosting events, big and small, that bring people together and delight them—in fun, luxury, and whimsy. Whether it’s a dinner with friends, a milestone birthday party, or a fundraiser, the reaction I am going for is, “You did all of this for me?” Events are a way to connect, to show you care, and like a vacation, an escape from the day-to-day. As Creative Types expands our service offerings, it’s time to bring ALL THE THINGS to my professional life and share it with a bigger audience. With you!
I could be an Olympian if… setting a table or gift-wrapping were a sport.
I am most proud when… someone quotes something I’ve written. (It means they heard it, and remember it.)
A great day at work… is one where I get to create something and connect with someone.
What I do when I’m not working… care for my children, fix up a 1910s house, read cookbooks, and watch Italian detective shows.
Something I recently learned… There’s a fine line between roasting a chicken and boiling a chicken.
What my kids have taught me… how to shrug off a mistake and try again.
